How This Helps
A short, repetitive finger-play rhyme that builds fine motor coordination, sequencing (first/then), and resilience by modelling trying again after a setback. The actions and sounds support language, memory, and turn-taking.
After reading — 3 simple questions
- “Where did the spider climb?”
- “What washed the spider off?”
- “What happened after the sun came out?”
Tips — Look for this behavior tomorrow
- Try-again words: Listen for your child saying “again” or trying the action more than once — praise the persistence.
- Finger control: Notice improved finger movements when they copy the climbing — celebrate with a smile.
- Sequencing talk: See if your child points or labels the order (climb → rain → sun → climb) — repeat and reinforce: “First the spider climbed, then the rain…”
- Quick activity (1–2 min): Make a little paper spider and help your child move it up a short cardboard “roof” while chanting the rhyme.
