What to do:

Give your toddler a small basket and go for a walk. Encourage them to pick up leaves, stones, or other “treasures” and put them in the basket.

How it helps:

Tip for mom:

Let your child lead. Narrate what they find (“big brown leaf”, “smooth rock”) and copy their pace.

Goal:

Cognitive/learning + behavioural (persistence).

Developmental domains affected:

Physical (gross motor, fine motor), Cognitive (attention, exploration), Language (new words), Social-emotional (shared joy, confidence).

Activity level:

High.

Place:

Outdoor, walking.

Best for styles:

Mover (chasing), Feeler (textures), Talker (colors, actions).
